Side Events
In addition to the Main Tournament, the Toronto Backgammon Club Masters (TBCM) offers exciting Side Events for players who want more action, variety, and fun. These events are open to players of different levels and are a great way to compete outside of the main championship.
💰 Jackpot
- Format: Single-elimination. Once you lose, you’re out of that event.
- Levels: Different jackpots are available (Limited, Intermediate, or Open), so players can enter the division that matches their skill.
- Entry Fees & Prizes: Vary by division. Typically, 90% of the pool is returned as prizes.
- Why Play? Jackpots are fast, exciting, and a true test of skill and stamina. If you’re eliminated early in the main event, jackpots are the perfect way to keep competing.
👥 Doubles Tournament
- Format: Teams of two players compete together against other pairs.
- How it Works: Partners can consult on moves during matches, making doubles both a learning experience and a strategic challenge.
- Match Length: Usually shorter matches (e.g., 7 points).
- Why Play? Doubles is one of the most fun ways to play backgammon. You learn from your partner, share the pressure, and enjoy the teamwork dynamic.
✅ Side Events are the perfect chance to play more matches, meet more players, and enjoy the social side of backgammon while still competing for prizes.
