🎲 TBCM – Player Quick Guide
Welcome to the Toronto Backgammon Club Masters!
Please follow these key rules to ensure fair play and enjoyable tournaments.
🔹 Doubles
- Any two players may form a team.
- Consultation is allowed, but a clock is mandatory.
🔹 Jackpot Events
- Single elimination format.
- Super Jackpot – high rollers/pro masters (~$1,000+).
- Masters Jackpot – top players.
- Limited Jackpot – advanced, intermediate & lower open-level players.
- Register early to secure a spot; re-entries may be allowed.
🔹 Equipment
- Bringing your own board, cups, or baffle box is encouraged.
- Cups and baffle boxes may be used interchangeably.
🔹 Dice Rules
- One shared pair of dice.
- Dice on checkers = re-roll.
- Without a clock: tap the frame to end your turn.
🔹 Clocks
- If one player requests a clock, both must use it.
- Typical time: 12–15 seconds per move + time bank.
🔹 Etiquette
- Spectators: quiet only, no comments.
- Players: respect opponent’s preference (chat or silence).
- Disputes: stop the clock and call the Director.
🔹 Divisions
- Open/Championship – top level.
- Advanced/Intermediate – mid-level.
- Novice/Beginner – entry level.
🔹 Legal Moves
- All moves must be legal.
- Illegal moves must be corrected, even if it’s not to your advantage.
